Getting to Galway via Public Transportation:
From Belfast:
Bus:
- Aircoach (from outside Europa) to Dublin Airport and the GoBus or Citylink from the Airport to Galway City.
- There is also the BusEireann/Expressway: Belfast to Dublin Airport and then Dublin Airport to Galway

Rail:
You can take the train to Dublin City and then get a train to Galway.
From Dublin Airport:
Bus:
GoBus and Citylink busses are reliable and each travel hourly between 6.15am and 11.55pm. You can book these tickets online and both companies allow you to use a ticket for 24 hours even if you do not arrive on time for the one you booked.
*you do not want to rely on these busses if you are getting into the airport between midnight and 6am but they go late-night from Galway to the Airport

From Dublin City:
Bus:
GoBus and Citylink listed above also stop in Dublin City at Burgh Quay & Aston Quay — but check timetable because some go direct to Airport.
Rail:
IrishRail goes from Heuston to Galway

From Limerick and Cork City:
Bus:
Citylink & Bus Eireann both go from Cork City to Galway and make stops in Limerick City. Bus Eireann tends to be cheaper but check timetable to make sure you do not get on one that takes a longer route than the others.

Rail:
The rail also goes from Cork to Galway with a stop in Limerick. This option is easiest in my opinion if coming from Limerick City.

From Derry/Letterkenny/Sligo:
Bus:
Bus Eireann route 64 stops in the cities above as well as others (the entire trip Galway to Derry is approx. 5 hours 30 minutes including a break in Sligo)

Galway is a small enough city that most accommodation is within walking distance of the university. If it is further away, local busses and taxis are easy to access. Galway Taxi Company has an app you can download which is very useful & they tend to be reasonably priced.
If you need any advice on the local busses, feel free to ask Jamie at the email provided (lots of time spent on those things!).
If you plan on parking your car for a few days and for some reason you cannot leave your car overnight at your accommodation: Hynes Yard Car Park has reasonable rates if you book online.
